I had a joy to attend the first-ever Garage48 weekend devoted to building physical gadgets in Tartu during 7-9 February 2014. The event with over 130 engineers, designers, marketers and managers was the biggest ever Garage48 event so far. I was overseeing the initial pitching contest to see if I could spot any projects and teams that I’d be keen to work with.
The participants pitched altogether 37 ideas out of which 19 went into development. Out of those 19, there were plenty, which I didn’t believe in, or maybe just didn’t understood their value. However, I’d like to point out some which raised my interest.
Jim Collins’ latest business strategy extravaganza, “Great By Choice” gave a good concept for validating your strategies empirically. Whether it’s a general change in business strategy or a product launch, it all makes a perfect sense.
The concept is “Fire Bullets Then Cannon Balls”
The latest Brian De Palma movie ”Passion” (2012, current IMDB score 6.5) is quite exciting movie about corporate game. Although it is also disgustingly manipulative, and won’t do any good to your brain, the screenplay and its core ideas were clever enough to recommend it to everyone who aims to climb a corporate ladder.
